Race report: Finetwork Mir Racing Cup Round 2 at Zuera International Circuit.
Sunday Warm up
I felt comfortable on the bike in morning warm up even though the track was still a bit wet from rain overnight and I was feeling a little unwell on the day. I was able to get a lap time of 1:13.774 which put me 11th fastest in the session. I was very happy with that as it was only 1.285 seconds off P1’s pace.
On Saturday I qualified P16 of 26 on the grid so started both of Sunday’s races from the 6th row.
Race 1
Race 1 went well after a bumpy start. Unfortunately on the start of the 2nd lap I saved the bike from a highside coming out of turn 1 at full speed which forced me into the grass and dirt and made me drop down quite a lot of positions. At this point I was very disappointed but got back on track and pushed as hard as I could to make up as many positions as possible. My tires still had some mud or dirt stuck to them which impacted my grip but it improved again after a few laps. I eventually finished P18 and was very happy with that considering how the race started.
Race 2
Race 2 went great. I was able to make a few passes into turn 4 on the first lap to slot into a good position for the rest of the race. I stayed with the group in front of me for longer than I could in the first round which helped me to get my personal best of the weekend, a 1:13.015. I finished the race in P16.
I’m very happy with my progress over the weekend and the consistency I was able to maintain in the races – in race 2 all laps were in the 1:13s and 1:14s except the first lap.
I love being part of the MIR Racing family as it is already such a great community to be a part of and the perfect place to keep learning.
I would like to thank my family and my sponsors for everything.
